About Kidder Kayaking

Kayak Experience

Over 20 years of kayaking. I became a ACA (American Canoe Association) Kayak Instructor in 2002. I currently have taught over 600 youth and adults to kayak. I have paddled to and or led kayak trips with former students to Alaska, the Yucatan, the Apostle Islands, Isle Royal, Baja Mexico, Rossport Canada, Slate Islands Canada, Voyageurs National Park, Lake Powell Utah, Wales, Ireland, the Nile in Egypt, and more.

Kayak Business

My philosophy is to sell quality not quantity. I am a paddler first, a Instructor second, and my passionate hobby has led me down the road of now being a kayak and gear dealer. I don't want to sell you anything that I would not use myself. I have learned sometimes the hard way what to avoid and what to embrace as far as kayaks and gear go. It has taken me almost twelve years to put together a product line of the best and safest kayak products you can buy.

My kayaks are made in Great Britain by the P&H Company which has been in the business for over 40 years. This company also builds the Venture and Pyranha lines of kayaks. I carry all three brands. This company first started out by searching Alaska, Iceland, and Greenland for the wooden traditional kayaks. They studied these boats and then started making kayaks that were lightweight, nimble, durable, and with good handling qualities.

I also carry and sell Kokatat Clothing, Snap Dragon Skirts, Werner Paddles, Northern River Supply Products, and Cascade Designs Camping Gear. This gear is all made in the US and is the best gear you can buy for quality and longevity.

Degree in Outdoor Education from the University of Minnesota. 2002 became a Certified ACA Costal Kayak Instructor after taking a six day exam. 2002 became a "Medical First Responder". I taught six years at a Vocational School the following subjects: Wild Life and Conservation, Outdoor Recreation, and Photography. I then self taught myself to become a "wood artist" and made and sold wood sculptures, wooden musical instruments, furniture, and lathe turned vases that were up to six feet tall. I won "Best of Show or Wood" awards at such art shows as the Uptown Art Show, The Renaissance Festival, Arts in the Park in Brainerd, Springfield, IL, Boston Mills, and more. I like to use my artistic abilities in kayak putting together different color schemes and repairing kayaks.

Best Feeling

When I can share my kayaking knowledge and instruction techniques to new paddlers both young and old.
